Margaret “Peggy” Joffe is a trial attorney who received her law degree from Loyola University School of Law in 1986. She has practiced in New Orleans and Baton Rouge litigating toxic tort cases and has general insurance defense matters before joining Pugh, Accardo, Haas, Radecker, and Carey in January, 2014. Ms. Joffe handles matters in the areas of casualty litigation, insurance defense, class action and toxic torts. She is a member of the Louisiana, American and Federal Bar Associations and is active in the New Orleans Pro Bono Project. Ms. Joffe teaches Trial Advocacy at Loyola School of Law and has for more than a decade. She has also been a regular faculty member for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.

REPRESENTATIVE CASES:

Ms. Joffe defended an insulation supplier and contractor in a $2.5 million product liability and negligence case in which the plaintiff alleged that products sold and used by the defendant caused his mesothelioma. Both a motion for involuntary dismissal filed at the close of trial and a post-trial memoranda led to the dismissal of all claims against the firm’s client.

Ms. Joffe defended this case brought by the family of a deceased industry worker who was diagnosed with mesothelioma. The family alleged that the worker’s illness was caused by his exposure to asbestos throughout his work career. The jury trial concluded in May 2006.
