Sarah E. McMillan

As a multidisciplinary litigator, Sarah McMillan represents regional, national, and international clients in matters relating to products liability, toxic torts, construction, and insurance defense. Sarah helps clients and their insurers to assess and mitigate risks and vigorously defend them, when necessary. With experience in mass-tort and single-plaintiff matters, she has successfully used many strategies, including motion practice, to resolve disputes. Since 2023, Sarah has been ranked as one of The Best Lawyers in America® (Product Liability Litigation – Defendants). Sarah is an Honorary Research Faculty Member at the University of Aberdeen School of Law, where she was formerly a faculty member. While on Aberdeen’s faculty, Sarah was a visiting professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law and University of Maryland School of Law. With a continuing interest in legal education, she has been involved with Tulane Law School’s Civil Litigation Boot Camp Intersession program since its inauguration.

Sarah defends manufacturers, premises owners, construction, engineering, and service companies, and other clients against claims for personal injury and property damage involving asbestos, chemicals, and mold.

Sarah represents manufacturers in a range of industries including automobile and automobile parts, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and consumer products.

  • Construction Litigation

Sarah litigates public and private construction disputes in Louisiana, representing owners, contractors, sub-contractors, designers, and architects. She also represents surety companies and national contractors in construction disputes regarding federal projects.

  • Insurance Defense

Sarah advises and defends insurers and insurance brokers in litigation involving personal injury, property damage, and coverage disputes.

  • Professional Liability Defense

Sarah serves a variety of clients in the defense of professional malpractice claims including suits involving construction issues, wetlands delineations and land surveys, mold investigations and remediation, and other environmental matters.

  • Cannabis Law

Sarah assists those in the industry with their legal issues related to cannabis, hemp, and CBD.

  • Regulatory Matters

Sarah advises clients regarding state and federal regulations, including consumer and business regulations, preparing them to comply with the law, minimize impact on their business, respond to investigations, and, when necessary, represents them before regulatory commissions.
