Pugh Accardo was a proud sponsor of The Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Society’s Annual Jazz Brunch and Scholarship Gala, which was held on September 24. The Louis Martinet Society was founded in 1957 by some of Louisiana’s most prominent African-American attorneys and is named after one of the African-American pioneers of the legal profession in the 1870’s who went on to become one of the key figures in the fight for civil rights during and after Reconstruction, culminating in the U.S. Supreme Court’s Plessy V. Ferguson decision in 1896. The Society today promotes legal scholarship, the administration of justice in Louisiana, and the welfare of our state’s legal profession.
